Brian Pedersen

Co-Founder | Operations & Strategy

Brian Pedersen brings a multidisciplinary background spanning horticulture, engineered systems, and the creative arts. His path into agriculture was not linear. He began his professional life in audio engineering before discovering, somewhat unexpectedly, that working with plants offered the same blend of precision, rhythm, and creative problem-solving that first drew him to music.

Over time, that interest became a vocation. Brian has led large-scale agricultural development projects across a wide range of environments, including advanced hydroponic production facilities, urban high-rise farms, correctional institutions, and projects in the Caribbean. His work has focused on program leadership, infrastructure design, and building production systems that translate ambitious ideas into reliable, day-to-day operations.

He is drawn to agriculture because it bridges science and stewardship, pairing technical rigor with meaningful, tangible impact.

At West Marin Landscape Nursery, Brian oversees production planning, infrastructure development, and long-term strategy, helping build a resilient operation that supports both professional contractors and home gardeners throughout the region.

Ida Severson

Co-Founder | Landscape Designer | Licensed Contractor

Ida Severson is a landscape designer and licensed contractor with over two decades of experience in horticulture, seed preservation, and landscape management. Her work is rooted in a deep understanding of plant systems, site conditions, and long-term landscape performance. Ida began her career in organic seed preservation, working with open-pollinated heirloom varieties in New Mexico and Washington. That foundation shaped her disciplined, detail-oriented approach to plant selection and cultivation.

After relocating to West Marin, she founded Mesa Chica Landscaping, growing the company into a respected, full-service landscape operation serving residential clients throughout the region. Known for her strong work ethic and refined design sensibility, Ida leads projects ranging from routine garden maintenance to comprehensive landscape transformations.

As co-founder of West Marin Landscape Nursery, she oversees plant selection, grow operations, and contractor relations. Her focus is on quality, durability, and creating a nursery that supports both professional landscapers and the local community.
